But with so much on offer in Whistler, we don’t want to forget the four incredible, award-winning area golf courses! Regularly appearing on top Canadian golf lists, including SCOREGolf’s Top 59 Public Golf Courses in Canada and Top 100 Canadian Golf Courses, this is one place where you can’t miss when it comes to incredible scenery, meticulously maintained fairways and greens, as well a friendly, welcoming staff.

That said, we want to ensure that anyone considering a Whistler golf vacation in the near future books soon - as one of the premier golf courses is getting a big facelift soon…

Upcoming Changes

Big things are on the horizon for Whistler’s oldest golf course, as the Whistler Golf Club is set to undergo a $10-million facelift beginning September 2025.

After a 3-year planning process with a vision to elevating the course to new heights, and under the direction of golf course architect Thad Layton (formerly with Arnold Palmer Course Design) the project will feature significant enhancements, including:

  • Redesigned and added tee complexes to suit golfers of all skill levels.
  • Repositioning, rebuilding, or eliminating bunkers in select cases to improve playability.
  • Reconstruction of multiple fairways and a reimagining of holes 4, 8, and 18.
  • The greens on holes 3 and 12 will be shifted to improve sightlines and ensure optimal player safety.
  • Updates to cart paths, including replacement, realignment, and removal in select areas for enhanced flow.

Opened in 1983, the course “requires significant updates to remain current, competitive, and aligned with Whistler’s reputation as a world-class resort destination,” according to the Whistler Golf Club and Tourism Whistler in a November 14th press release. The extensive renovation is part of the club’s master plan redevelopment.

With renovations slated to begin on Sept. 2, 2025, the course will be closed until early summer 2027. The club’s driving range and retail shop will remain on their typical seasonal schedules, while upgrades to Palmer’s Restaurant are still being considered.

What this means for golf travellers: If you want to play Whistler Golf Club before the summer of 2027, you need to book now.

Golfers and those in the golf industry are eagerly looking forward to the unveiling of updates to Whistler Golf Club, which will ensure it remains current, competitive, and aligned with Whistler’s reputation as a world-class resort destination for decades to come.
