Set on the hillside overlooking the town of Osoyoos, the lake, vineyards and orchards - Osoyoos Golf Club's Desert Gold is carved out of the rugged, desert brush hillside. Considered the more challenging of the two golf courses, the 6,500-yard par 71 Desert Gold course cuts along a camber for the first few holes as it slides along the side of the hill, then climbs up and around the mountain. Golfers will then encounter arresting views and scenic panoramas up to about the 15th hole.

The course’s neatly trimmed and lush fairways are framed by dusty desert brush. Golfers will find that tee shots are mostly straight but do require a degree of accuracy. The greens are forgiving in their reception for a course stuck in the middle of the desert, but do take a few extra balls – there are plenty of out-of-bounds areas. If searching for a more laid-back round, golfers are advised to book a tee time at the neighboring Park Meadows Course.
