The Dunes Golf Course is just a few minutes from downtown Kamloops, on the banks of the North Thompson River.  Noted Canadian architect Graham Cooke constructed a 7,131 yard course featuring lush fairways and greens guarded by sand dunes that give the course its name.  Also close to town, the new Sun Rivers courses garnered accolades, including Best New Canadian course by Golf Digest when it opened in 2003.  Designed also by Graham Cooke, Sun Rivers is set high on a desert plateau overlooking the river and is crossed by ravines that create natural elevation changes over its 7,023 yards.

Bordering on the South Thompson River as its name implies, Rivershore is one of BC’s first signature courses.  Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, its 7,007 yards have hosted numerous BC Championships.  Sun Peaks Resort, a well known ski destination, challenged Canadian architect Graham Cooke with a beautiful setting at the foot of three mountains.  The front nine is a tight course set between towering forests, while the newer back nine offers a little more room for the long ball hitter.

Two new courses have recently added to the quality of the golf experience in Kamloops.  Talking Rock, set on the shore of Little Shuswap Lake meanders up and down the mountain side.  Graham Cooke designed the 7,129 yard course to take advantage of the elevation changes, particularly on the back nine.  Tobiano, about 20 minutes west of Kamloops, opened in 2008 as Canada’s Best New Course from Golf Digest Magazine.  Thomas McBroom took advantage of the rugged benchland above Kamloops Lake to fashion a 7,328 yard course which will take your breath away.
